Sweet Swan Nursery

#TheMalicotes-129

The moment I found out I was having a girl, my mind went straight to the nursery design board! Vivie’s Swan Nursery was inspired when I stumbled across the cutest swan wall head in Target. The colors were exactly what I had in mind– light and airy creams, feminine blush, and touches of gold to give it an elegant vibe. From there, I decided on a theme mixed with romantic pinks, touches of pattern, and swans, flowers, & ballet inspired decor for a whimsical feel.

The nursery used to be my office space, and we decided to keep the cheetah wallpaper because it worked subtle enough to give the room some life, without being too busy. We changed the wall color to ‘Roman Column‘ by Sherwin Williams, and I am OBSESSED! It’s the perfect rich, delicate cream. I will be using it for our guest bedroom down the line as well.

I chose white furniture from Pottery Barn Kids to keep the room light & classic. They have so many baby collections that it was hard to narrow down. I fell in love with the Ava Collection, specifically because of the trim detail on the dresser. Plus it came with both gold and silver hardware, which is nice to have both for now and in the future. I chose to go with the extra wide dresser and the bookcase from the collection. I switched out the crib for the Madison Convertible Crib because I loved the curved sleigh top, because I felt things could feel boxy with the fretwork design on each piece.

Once I got the furniture settled in, I ended up searching for delicate decorations to give the room some color. Styling the bookcase was one of my favorite parts of the project. I found a lot of good bookcase trinkets at HomeGoods, and also discovered the perfect pieces in Anthropologie’s Kids section. I found these beautiful washed silk drapes from Restoration Hardware, that matched perfectly with the custom bedding I got off Etsy. I worked with Lauren from HighCottonTextile, to get the bedding I was looking for which I couldn’t find in any stores. I wanted a basic all white bedding, with pale pink bows to give the crib a romantic, dreamy feel. She did an amazing job, and I highly recommend her!

It took me about 5 months to complete the nursery exactly the way I envisioned it, and I love the way it all came together! I sat for weeks in the rocker waiting and anticipating the day I would bring our baby girl home. I pictured myself reading her books, saying bedtime prayers, and rocking her to sleep at night. And now I can say that my vision is a reality. Vivie’s nursery space is the last place we spend time together at night, and it is perfectly cozy and serene. I can’t wait to watch her grow in this room and feel like a princess!
